Synopsis: Set between the Eighties and the Two-thousand, the film tells the story of an influential family from Vicenza composed of Maria (Valentina Bellè), her husband Osvaldo (Paolo Pierobon), and his twin sister, Erminia (Sonia Bergamasco), a successful pianist. Their lives are turned upside down by an unexpected event. Maria gives birth to Rebecca. The newborn, otherwise completely normal and of great beauty, has a prominent purple spot that marks half of her face. That stain, which nothing can erase and renders the parents powerless and unhappy, becomes an obsession for Maria that leads her to reject her responsibilities as a mother. Rebecca’s entire adolescence will be marked by shame and the desire to hide from others. But even as a child, she reveals extraordinary musical abilities. Aunt Erminia recognizes her talent: Rebecca becomes her student, and the need to erase the “stain” will drive her to assert herself through music.
