Blue Origin’s New Shepard completes its second suborbital flight. On board was actor William Shatner, best known for his role as Captain Kirk on Star Trek. He became the oldest person in space – he is 90 years old.

The launch vehicle was launched from the spaceport near the Texas city of Van Horn at 9:50 local time (17:50 Moscow time). New Shepard climbed to an altitude of over 100 km, where the passengers were in a state of weightlessness. The ship landed with parachutes a few kilometers from the launch site.

Also aboard the ship were Vice President of Blue Origin Audrey Powers, former NASA engineer and co-founder of the American company Planet Labs Chris Boschuisen and vice chairman of Dassault Systmes division Glen de Vries.

The first flight of the New Shepard took place in July, with the founder of Blue Origin, the richest man in the world, Jeff Bezos.
