The Frankfurt start-up Bunton wants to make it easier for women to find and obtain top positions in companies. They believe that the algorithms of established job portals unfairly favor men.
The founding story sounds like something from the advertising brochure of a co-working provider: Janet Winkler and Debjit Chaudhuri are neighbors in a Frankfurt office center behind the Alte Oper. When Chaudhuri was looking for a female successor to his supervisory board position in a stock corporation, he spoke to his neighbor.
As a member of various women’s networks, Winkler was able to name a few candidates. In further conversation, the IT entrepreneur, who has already built and sold two companies, and the experienced consultant and investor noted that more needed to be done to bring together companies that want to fill supervisory and board positions with women and suitable female candidates.
