Starting tomorrow, Monday, October 9, 0 kilometer motorcycles sold at dealerships must have mandatory civil liability insurance before being registered in the Automotive Registry. This was established by the National Road Safety Agency (ANSV), because currently only 20% have this coverage, the Argentine Motorcycle Vehicle Association (Mottos) reported today.

The new measure was celebrated by the more than a thousand official dealers, which represent 90% of the motorcycle market.

“This marks a milestone in road safety in Argentina,” Mottos said in a statement and specified that only 20% of the more than 9,500,000 units in circulation have insurance.

They also highlighted that “the National Traffic Law No. 24,449 clearly establishes the need for this insurance, and its compliance will contribute significantly to the reduction of accidents and the prevention of incidents related to motorcycle theft.”

Mottos also stressed that “the importance of complying with this law cannot be underestimated.”

“In addition to improving the safety of motorcycle users and reducing accidents, this measure will contribute to preventing the increase in incidents related to motorcycle theft and the criminal modality of the well-known ‘motochorros’,” they highlighted.

“More than 50% of traffic accidents in Argentina involve motorcycles, underscoring the importance of this regulation,” they concluded.
