State police chief Dr. Dr. Sheikh Darvesh Sahib said. He was speaking to the media after a review meeting convened to assess the security arrangements related to the Makaravilak.
Four SPs, 19 DYSPs, and 15 inspectors have been appointed in excess of one thousand. Additional vinyasa is at Sannidhanam, Pampa, Nilakkal and Panditathavalam. Police have made all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the Makaravilak Utsav. A definite exit plan has been prepared for the devotees coming down the hill after Makarvilak. The places where devotees gather for Makaravilak darshana have all the arrangements including lighting. He said that arrangements have been made with proper coordination with the concerned departments.
After the review meeting held at the Devaswom complex, the police chief visited Sannidhanam and its surroundings and assessed the situation. Visited the 18th step near the flagpole. Then visited the footpath from Sannidhanam to Malikappuram and Malikappuram temple. Then Sabarimala Tantri Kantarar Mahesh Mohan and Melshanthi P.N9. Mahesh Namboothiri also met. The chief of police was received with tantri prasad. Melshanti sent him to Ponnata. After assessing the security arrangements in and around Sannidhanam, he descended the mountain in the afternoon.
