In the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine: The Federal Communications Commission of the United States (FCC) has added the Russian information security company Kaspersky to the list of entities that pose an “unacceptable risk to national security”.

According to the Bloomberg report, the decision of the Communications Commission to include businesses in the United States will no longer be allowed to use the funding provided by the Commission to purchase Kaspersky products or services, or any other company on the list.

It was also reported that in addition to Kaspersky, the Commission added other companies, including China Telecom and China Mobile International USA.

The commission’s decision joins former US President Donald Trump’s decision in 2017 to ban the use of Kaspersky products among federal agencies and government bodies in the country, after accusing the company of spying and maintaining direct relations with the Kremlin.

According to Trump, Russian intelligence used Kaspersky products to steal classified documents from the United States National Security Agency. Kaspersky vehemently denied the allegations.

“We are disappointed with the decision of the Communications Commission to ban businesses in the United States from using our services and products. The decision is not based on a technical assessment of our products but on political motives. As of 2017 we are under severe restrictions based on accusations “Kaspersky will continue to prove its quality and integrity to its partners and customers, while seeking full cooperation with the United States in order to address the concerns of the FCC or any other regulatory agency.”
