A day of mourning is being observed in Gujarat today after the suspension bridge accident.

The suspension bridge built during the British rule over the Machu river in the Morbi region of Gujarat was last October. On 30th (Sunday) evening there was a major accident due to heavy weight. Hundreds of people on the bridge fell into the river. The death toll in this accident is 135.

And currently 17 people are injured and are being treated in the hospital. Rescue teams are still searching for the 2 missing people.

Today, a day of mourning is being observed across the state of Gujarat after the Morbi suspension bridge accident. The national flag has been flown at half-mast at government offices across the state. Also today all government related events have been canceled.

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who visited the Morbi area where the accident took place yesterday, personally met the people who were injured in the accident and are receiving treatment at the Morbi Hospital and expressed his condolences.
