Chennai: In the state level volleyball tournament, the SRM women’s team and the Bharathiyar School team won the championship among the students.
With the support of Tamil Nadu and Chennai Volleyball Associations, MOP, Vaishnava Women’s College and GKM, on behalf of the Volleyball Foundation, concluded the state level volleyball tournament at Mylapore last night on the 16th. Competitions were held in two categories as students and women. Eight teams each from both the divisions participated in the competition, with the leading women’s teams in Tamil Nadu and the school student teams. Day and night matches were played in ‘league’ and ‘knock-out’ mode. In this, in the final for women, SRM, Team – ICF, teams clashed.
In a thrilling match 25 – 19, 25 – 21, 21 – 25, 25 – 23, SRM, the team won and clinched the championship. The third place was won by Erode PKR team and the fourth place was won by Athur Bharathiar team. Similarly, in the competition for schools, Bharathiar School – Lady Sivasamy Iyer School teams clashed. In this, Bharathiar School team won the championship with a stunning set score of 23 – 25, 25 – 9, 25 – 18. Avadi Government School won the third place and Kannagi Nagar Government School won the fourth place. The winning teams were awarded cash prizes and trophies.
