Statistics Show Largest Increase in Municipal Tax Rates in Nine Years

by time news

The municipal tax will be on the rise for many citizens next year, with new figures from Statistics Norway revealing that the average increase is the largest in nine years.

The municipal tax is made up of two parts: regional tax and municipal tax. The regional tax rate is set to increase by an average of 10 öre per hundred, while the municipal tax will see an average increase of three öre per hundred, bringing the total municipal tax rate to an average of 32.37 kroner per earned hundred ring – an increase of 13 öre.

However, not everyone will be facing higher taxes, as many will see no change and 23 municipalities will actually see a reduction in taxes. This means that depending on where you live, there is potential for a total tax reduction if your region’s increase is outweighed by your municipality’s decrease.

In terms of specific municipalities, Österåker will have the lowest municipal tax next year at 28.98 percent, while Degerfors will have the highest at 35.30 percent.

These tax increases and reductions will have different implications for citizens across the country, and it remains to be seen how the changes will be felt in different regions and municipalities.
