Steering Committee or Appointing a Governor? “Central Bank Crisis” Negotiations Between Two Options

by times news cr

The representative of the House of Representatives, Abdul Hadi Al-Saghir, in the ongoing negotiations regarding the crisis of the Central Bank attributed the obstruction of the negotiations to several reasons, including “the ongoing dispute between the options of going to a committee to temporarily manage the bank or going directly to appoint a governor, deputy, and board of directors.”

The representative of the representatives denied in a statement to Al-Ahrar that the “issue of names” was the reason for not reaching a final agreement regarding the Central Bank.

The representative of the small deputies, Abdul Hadi Al-Sagheer, said that reaching the “issue of the persons and names” means that the problem has been resolved, and this has not happened yet, according to him.

The House of Representatives representative confirmed that the House of Representatives does not oppose the return of Al-Siddiq Al-Kabeer and his deputy Marai Al-Barasi to work in the previous tasks.

The representative of the representatives said that the mission has no role other than providing technical or logistical support and that its proposals are not binding.

Al-Sagheer also stressed that the Council does not respect the Presidential Council’s decision at all and considers it a violation of legal limits.

For his part, the State Council representative in the Central Bank negotiations, Abdel Jalil Al-Shawash, announced that “things are going well,” suggesting that the option of naming a governor and his deputy is likely to be adopted.

Al-Shawash expected that the crisis would not last another week or two through “choosing a consensus figure,” according to him.

Abdul Jalil Al-Shawash explained that one of the aspects of the dispute regarding the central bank crisis is the condition that the governor be from the eastern region, as dictated by the Bouznika agreement.

The representative of the Supreme Council stated that observing this condition would initially lead to the necessity of unifying all sovereign institutions between the East and the West.

The High Representative attributed the problem of this file to the fact that it is not possible to implement one aspect of the Bouzinka Agreement and ignore another, according to him.
