Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has called on citizens to support Welthungerhilfe. “735 million people worldwide are still hungry, children and young people in particular are the most affected. Climate change is making the situation dramatically worse,” he said at the start of Welthungerhilfe’s week this Sunday in a televised address broadcast in advance on ARD and ZDF should.
“Thousands of people died in the flood disasters along the North African coast in September, countless are missing. Hundreds of thousands have lost their homes,” said Steinmeier.
Green Colleges: Education for sustainability against climate change
“Floods, forest fires, droughts – climate change is affecting people worldwide, and solutions are being feverishly sought around the globe to stop the earth’s warming.” Steinmeier then reported on the Green Colleges project, which is supported by Welthungerhilfe and trains young people in developing countries in sustainable production.
“Dear fellow citizens, my request to you at home: This year too, support Welthungerhilfe and thus sustainable projects such as the Green Colleges in Uganda and many, many others. I thank you for that from the bottom of my heart,” said Steinmeier. © dpa
