Stellantis and Foxconn create Mobile Drive for connected cars

Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd., (Foxconn), together with its subsidiary FIH Mobile, (FIH), e Stellantis (Stellantis) announced they have created a joint venture. Mobile Drive, born from it, will focus on providing one intelligent solution for vehicle interiors which will revolutionize current design conventions and foster the development of connected intelligent vehicles. The signing of the agreement comes after a memorandum of understanding (MOU) was initially signed on May 18, 2021.

Mobile Drive will be owned by Stellantis and FIH on an equal basis. The partnership combined the capabilities of Taiwanese Foxconn in the ICT and smart solution field, with Stellantis’ experience in the automotive sector, ensuring the growth of Mobile Drive.

Mobile Drive will focus on developing infotainment and telematics solutions, as well as a cloud services platform, which will aim to provide a complete intelligent cabin solution. The software innovations will also include applications based on artificial intelligence, navigation, voice assistance, e-commerce store operations and integration of payment services. The hardware innovations will be linked to the intelligent cockpit and the telematics box.

Through the exchange of intellectual property by its founding entities and the vertical integration of their respective supply chains, the company will be able to create industry-leading automotive digital services to achieve a seamless user experience in and out of the vehicle. In the future, the intelligent cabin solution will not only be available to all Stellantis vehicles, but also to third-party vehicle manufacturers, expanding the reach and impact of the Mobile Drive joint venture, which aims to be a global leader in intelligent cabin solutions and connected vehicles.
