Bern, 10/23/2024 – Stéphane Rossini will leave his position as director of the Federal Office for Social Insurance at the end of June 2025 to devote himself to new professional activities. The Federal Council was informed of its decision at its meeting on 23 October 2024. The position will be put out to competition.

Stéphane Rossini has decided to leave the Federal Office for Social Insurance (OFAS) at the end of June 2025. He then wants to devote himself to other part-time activities. The Federal Council appointed Stéphane Rossini as director of OFAS in 2019. He has led and supported many important projects, including the stabilization of the AVS (AVS21), the introduction of transitional benefits for the unemployed elderly as well as allowances for loss of earnings related to Covid. Before becoming director of OFAS, Stéphane Rossini was president of the Swiss Institute for Therapeutic Products (Swissmedic) and the Federal Commission for Old Age, Survivors and Disability Insurance. He has also been active for a long time in research and teaching in the field of social insurance.
