The horror writer’s book adaptations, Stephen Kingto the small and big screens have been customary for many decades and 2025 will bring with it different titles, some adapted for the first time, others inspired and even some that are about remakes.
A science fiction story
Again, The wanted (The Running Man) will hit the world’s screens in November, starring Glen Powell and Josh Brolin in the cast, both under the direction of Edgar Wright.
It will be a production made by Paramount Pictures and it is the second time that it happens, the first was in 1987 starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Written by Stephen King under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, In 1982, this science fiction story takes place in a dystopian 2025, where within an authoritarian American government, the only real thing seems to be television.
It is like this reality show where its participants die, attracts Ben Richard to enter it, knowing of his death, but with the mission of surviving as long as possible and leaving a promising future for his family with the prizes.
He Toy Damn
the story The Monkey (The Monkey) written in 1980 and appeared in the anthology Skeleton Crew will have its first film adaptation written and directed by Osgood Perkins.
The story revolves around a monkey toy that a pair of brothers find in their father’s attic, which seems to trigger a series of unexplained deaths and after an estrangement of years, the murders return to unite the duo in search of the destruction of the cursed object.
The film will hit theaters in February and stars Theo James, Tatiana Maslany and Elijah Wood, among others.
Dark magic on screen
Chuck’s Life (The Life of Chuck) is another of this year’s adaptations that will arrive in the form of a film with a cast that includes Tom Hiddleston, Mark Hamill, Chiwetel Ejiofor, among others.
Published as a short novel in the anthology The Blood Rules of 2020, the story tells the life of Chuck Krantz, with the beginning in his death at the age of 39 and the conclusion in his childhood.
The film will be in theaters in the summer, but its premiere was at festivals during 2024.
