Sterzing. Tuesday evening in the Alps Hockey League with three games all to follow for the implications on a ranking of the regular season that less than a month after the end of hostilities, March 18, has only issued a verdict: the Steel Wings Linz, last in the standings with two points, they can no longer qualify for the pre-playoffs.
In this perspective, a very important game for the Vipiteno players who will be on the ice of Dornbirn where they will cross the cues against Bregenzerwald.
The two teams are separated by only three points and both seek lifeblood to get out of the risk areas, those close to 12th place, the last one to qualify for the pre-playoffs. To follow the match at the top between Jesenice, currently third, against the listed Red Bull Hockey Juniors Salzburg who are one point from the area that directly qualifies for the playoffs.
Bregenzerwald against the Broncos of Alta Val d’Isarco is the second meeting this season. On 23 January the Broncos celebrated a narrow victory (3-2) at home after extra time.
Before last Saturday’s defeat in Lustenau, Vipiteno had a winning streak of three games including the first in Bressanone – following the collapse of the ice rink – in which the team of coach Dustin Whitecotton trimmed a 4 to 1 to the quoted young people from Salzburg. Bregenzerwald have lost four of their last five games. The expectation is growing for Thursday when Renon will visit Jesenice and Asiago will be busy on the Feldkirch ice.
