Curious Fans Suggest Steve Martin for Tim Walz SNL Impression
Internet users and fans of the legendary program Saturday Night Live (SNL) have noticed a striking resemblance between actor Steve Martin and Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz. This led to a viral petition suggesting Martin play the governor in upcoming SNL productions, starting on September 18th.
The petitions also included requests for actress Maya Rudolph to continue her portrayal of former President Donald Trump. Additionally, images of Walz with his family, relaxing in a chair, or interacting with a cat were shared.
After the petition went viral, Martin responded through the platform Threads. He expressed interest in touring with Marty Short, a former bandmate. SNL producer Lorne Michaels confirmed the offer to Martin, but the actor ultimately declined.
“I’m not an impressionist,” Martin explained. “They need someone who can really play the guy. I was only chosen because I have grey hair and wear glasses.”
For now, the possibility of Martin playing Walz remains unconfirmed.
