BOLZANO. Four Daspo were issued by the commissioner Paolo Sartori towards 3 Südtirol fans e di a steward.

The events occurred in the stands of the “Druso” Stadium during the football match from Fc Südtirol and Venice which took place last February 10th.

Towards the end of the first half, a smoke torch was lit in the sector occupied by the Bolzano supporters belonging to the organized “Gradinata Nord” group, then dropped into the spaces below.

Immediately a steward, given the danger of the situation that was being created, quickly reached the stands in an attempt to put out the smoke bomb, but immediately he was attacked by some fans who vigorously opposed himjerking it forcefully to prevent removal of the torch.

At that point three other stewards – two of whom did not have the regulatory bib, mandatory for those who carry out this delicate function – quickly reached the sector concerned to provide assistance to their colleague in difficulty; one of these, on this occasion, intervened without reason in a disorderly and violent mannerrepeatedly attacking some Südtirol supporters and even punching one in the face.

In the brawl that consequently broke out in the stands, another steward was pushed and made to fall between the seats below.

The immediate intervention of other stewards and fans who were peacefully watching the match made it possible, in just a few minutes, to bring the situation back to calm and avoid the spread of scuffles. Once the match was over, however, another local supporter climbed over the parapet of the stand and entered the pitch, immediately blocked and removed by a steward.

The operators of the Scientific Police of the Police Headquarters were immediately able to extrapolate the videos taken by the numerous cameras located throughout the Stadium, capable of framing, filming and recording in detail everything that happens in each internal sector as well as in the areas adjacent to the “Druso” Stadium .

Thanks to these videos and the work of the Scientific Police, the Digos investigators of the Police Headquarters were able to fully identify all the “protagonists” of these deplorable episodes.

In consideration of what happened and proven by the Digos and the Scientific Police, and with the aim of severely sanctioning, also for preventive purposes, any act of violence or any manifestation of incivility, with consequent endangerment of public order and safety of people, which occurs during sporting matches, the police commissioner of the Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori issued 4 Daspos which affected not only 3 Südtirol fans but also a steward. The latter, in fact, with his behavior contrary to his professional duties, instead of calming things down, after taking off his identifying bib, vehemently pushed his way into the large group of fans, causing alarmed reactions; then, after having yanked a fan, together they fell to the ground and, after getting up, the steward violently pushed him away, at the same time punching him in the face. For all of them, therefore, the commissioner has prescribed the ban on access – for a period of 1 year for the three fans, and 3 years for the steward, in consideration of the role it held at the time of the facts contested in the Measure – to all places where football matches are held on national territory, relating to national professional and semi-professional championships, international tournaments, friendly matches as well as in all places interested in carrying out the training sessions of the teams involved in the aforementioned championships and in the competitions that take place as part of the activities foreseen by the Italian Football Federation, or bodies and organizations recognized by the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI). The ban is intended to be extended, on the occasion of each match of the indicated sport and for the period between two hours before the start and two hours after the end of each sporting event, also at railway stations, motorway toll booths, airline airports, to service stations and all other places interested in the parking, transit or transport of those who participate or attend the competitions themselves, always for the same period starting from the date of notification of this provision; in case of non-compliance, the transgressor will be reported to the Judicial Authority. By places interested in parking, transit and transport we mean all the roads, streets and squares adjacent to the sports facility, within a radius of 500 meters from its external perimeter. As regards railway stations, motorway toll booths, airports, service stations and all other places involved in the parking, transit or transport of those who participate or attend sporting matches, the ban applies to all existing structures in the area national.

“It is unacceptable that a sporting event can be used as a pretext by a minority of individuals to carry out acts of violence, especially if one of them had a professional duty to enforce the law and guarantee safety of the spectators – Commissioner Sartori was keen to reiterate –. What happened last February at the Druso Stadium created considerable concern among those in the stands who only wanted to spend a quiet afternoon supporting their team. For this reason I have decided to take particularly severe measures. Such acts of violence are not tolerable and as such they were considered and sanctioned.”
