January 8th coup act

The PGR (Attorney General’s Office) sent this Thursday (16) to the STF (Supreme Federal Court) 12 new proposals for ANPPs (Non-Criminal Prosecution Agreements) related to the coup acts of January 8 in Brasília.

Minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the actions, must approve the proposals after analysis. The agreements were established between the Federal Public Ministry and the defenses of the accused, who agreed to comply with obligations, including the payment of fines in the amounts of R$5,000, R$10,000 and R$20,000, depending on the case.

A total of 1,125 defendants had their criminal actions suspended for individual analysis, considering the possibility of ANPP.

After approval, the implementation phase of the measures begins, to be carried out at the defendants’ place of residence.

The PGR requests the STF to revoke the precautionary measures applied to the defendants, including the use of electronic ankle bracelets.

The approved agreements will go to the Federal Court in the first instance, where they will be monitored for compliance.

The responsible judge will define the location and date for the course on “Democracy, Rule of Law and Coup d’état”, which the defendants undertake to attend.

In addition to the fines, the defendants agree to provide 300 hours of community service, participate in courses on democracy and are prohibited from maintaining open accounts on social networks.
