Rockstar cancels several performances due to illness. But there should be new dates.

That will disappoint many fans: Due to an illness, the British musician Sting postpones four of his concerts in Germany at short notice, including the one planned for Monday in Leipzig. This was announced by the organizer Live-Nation. The performance in Hamburg this Sunday, the concert in Leipzig on Monday, in Cologne on Wednesday and in Oberhausen on Thursday are affected.

“Unfortunately, Sting fell ill at short notice and is therefore unable to perform,” the statement said. No further details were given. The Hamburg Barclays Arena wrote on its website: “On urgent medical advice, Sting – to his great regret – has to postpone his upcoming performances.”

According to the organizer, the fans should keep their tickets. The performances should be made up for next year. As a spokeswoman for the German Press Agency said, these were concerts that had already been postponed. Open-air concerts planned for next year are not affected.

Composer, singer/songwriter, actor, writer and activist Sting was born in Newcastle, England. In 1977 he moved to London to form The Police with Stewart Copeland and Andy Summers. The band released five studio albums, won six Grammys and two Brit Awards, and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003.

One of the world’s most distinctive solo artists, Sting has received an additional 11 Grammys, two Brit Awards, a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award, four Oscar nominations, (including a nomination for “The Empty Chair” from JIM: THE JAMES FOLEY STORY in 2017 ), a TONY nomination, Billboard Magazine’s Century Award and was named MusiCares 2004 Person of the Year.

Over the course of his career, Sting has sold nearly 100 million albums with The Police and as a solo artist. | with dpa
