In response to the weak trend in the foreign markets, the Indian stock market recovered from the decline on Tuesday, the second trading day of the week, after suffering a 3-day decline.
Up 274.12 points: The Sensex rose 321.79 points (0.52 per cent) to 61,466.63 during the day on Tuesday. It ended up 274.12 points (0.45 per cent) at 61,418.96.
Out of the 30 top-tier Sensex stocks, only 5 stocks made it to the low-cost list. 25 stocks were on the gainer list.
IndusInd Bank advances: Popular bank IndusInd Bank topped the gainer chart with a gain of 2.64 percent. Following the bank, NTPC, Ultratech Cement, Titan, Infosys, Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services, Larson and Tubero also saw progress.
Nestlé India declines: Nestlé India, which makes food, confectionery and nutritional drinks, led the decliner list with a decline of 0.76 percent. Bharti Airtel, Pavgrid, HDFC and Kotak Mahindra also saw declines.
Nifty: The national stock market index Nifty gained 84.25 points (0.46 per cent) to settle at 18,244.20 on Tuesday.
CRUDE OIL: Brent crude oil was down 0.67 percent at USD 88.04 a barrel in the international market on Monday.
