MUMBAI: Today (Friday) trading in the Mumbai stock market started with a decline. The Sensex fell 250 points to 60,933 in early trade. Similarly, the Nifty on the national bourse was down 50 points at 17,974.

Stock markets started the weekend trading on a bearish note. As of 10:09 am, the Sensex was down 124.57 points at 61,194.94. The Nifty was down 40.85 points at 17,995.00 on the NSE.

Fears over reports that the US Federal Bank will continue to raise interest rates for a longer period of time have led to a negative environment in global markets. Due to this, the Indian stock markets began to decline today’s trade.

In terms of individual stocks, the gainers were Ultra Tech Cements, L&T, Asian Paints, Tata Steel, Titan Company, Reliance Industries, Power Grid Corporation, Maruti Suzuki, NTBC, Axis Bank, Bharti Airtel. ITC, Tata Motors, Hindustan Unilever, HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finserv, M&M, HDFC, Tech Mahindra, State Bank of India, TCS, Infosys, HCL Technologies, Wipro, IndusInt Bank and Nestlé India were the decliners.
