Mumbai: The weekend trade in the Mumbai Stock Exchange started with a fall today (Friday). The Sensex fell 221 points (0.35 per cent) to 59,736 in early trade. Similarly, the NSE Nifty fell 24 points (0.14 per cent) to 17,833.

Stock markets continued their decline yesterday and resumed declines today. As of 09:48 am, the Sensex was down 267.40 points at 59,690.63. The NSE Nifty was down 33.95 points at 17,824.25.

Indian stocks opened the second week’s closing day trading lower due to a subdued trading trend in Asian stocks today. The Sensex, which started with a 100-point decline, immediately fell by 222 points.

As far as individual stocks are concerned M&M, NTPC, Ultra Tech Cements, IndusInt Bank, Power Grid Corporation, Bharti Airtel, Maruti Suzuki, Hindustan Unilever, State Bank of India and ICICI were the gainers. ITC, Bajaj Finance, Nestle India, Tata Motors, TCS, Bajaj Finserv, Infosys, HTFC Bank, HDFC, Asian Paints, Kodak Mahindra, Titan Company, Tech Mahindra, Axis Bank, Sun Pharma Industries, Reliance Industries, L&T, Wipro , shares of HCL Technologies were in decline.
