Mumbai: Monday, the first day of the week in the Mumbai stock market, started with a bullish start. The Sensex was up 100 points at 60,982 at the opening of trade. Meanwhile, Nifty rose 42 points to 18,150 on the National Stock Exchange.

The first day of the week, the first day of the new year, started with a boom. As of 09:44 am, the Sensex was up 138.52 points at 60,979.26. The NSE Nifty was down 3.45 points at 18101.85.

Indian stock markets opened today’s trading on a positive note amid unfavorable global environment. Stock market trades were volatile after a bullish start amid adverse global environment due to fears of recession and concerns about interest rate hikes. As far as individual stocks are concerned, HDFC shares were higher. Shares of NestlĂ© India and Asian Paints were lower.
