Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchange Sees Major Surge
The Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges (DSE-CSE) witnessed a significant surge in trading on Thursday, August 8th. The DSE index soared by 5.44%, setting a new record, while the CSE index climbed by 5.47%.
Dhaka Stock Exchange Performance
The DSE index closed at 5,924 points, up 306.02 points from the previous day. This unprecedented surge surpassed the previous record set in 2013. Additionally, the Shariah index increased by 55.77 points to 1,274 points, and the DS30 index climbed by 110.56 points to 2,132 points.
A total of 398 shares and units were traded on the DSE, with 364 experiencing price increases, 27 experiencing decreases, and 7 remaining unchanged. Trading volume surged to 1,606 crore 47 lakh shares and units, more than double the previous day’s figure.
Chittagong Stock Exchange Performance
The CSE index soared by 547.56 points to 10,157 points. The overall index (CASPI) climbed by 903.05 points to 16,841 points, while the Shariah index increased by 47.81 points to 1,690 points and the CSE30 index rose by 758.02 points to 13,403 points.
Trading volume on the CSE stood at Tk 22 crore 68 lakh, slightly lower than the previous day’s figure of Tk 22.51 crore.
