Local Police Areas in Stockholm Focus on Men’s Violence Against Women During Week 47

Orange day, on November 25, is a day designated by the United Nations to raise awareness about violence against women. In Stockholm, the police are placing extra emphasis on men’s violence against women during week 47, with several local police areas implementing additional preventive measures.

The Local Police Area Botkyrka, in collaboration with the municipality and civil society, will be conducting a week-long initiative to address violence in close relationships. Their mobile police office will be stationed at various locations, and on Friday, November 24, a Christmas peace effort will take place from 12:00 to 21:00. This effort will involve door knocking in areas with a history of domestic violence to inform residents about available support services and to encourage them to report any signs of violence to the police.

In addition to outreach work towards suspected perpetrators, the goal of the Christmas peace effort is to increase awareness and willingness among neighbors to report instances of violence.

Similarly, the Norrmalm local police area will focus on Orange day by specifically addressing vulnerable crime victims and working to prevent men’s violence against women during week 47. They will be providing support and assistance to those in need while also emphasizing the importance of crime prevention.

The Stockholm County Police is committed to combating men’s violence against women and continues to work tirelessly to support victims and prevent further acts of violence.
