The interventions of the Carabinieri: a flurry of arrests

On the Gianicolense ring road, Saturday afternoon, the theft was noticed by the Carabinieri of the Operations Unit of the Rome San Pietro Company, who were passing by at that very moment. The two had just stolen the suitcases and some electronic objects from the car of a German tourist, after having shattered the window of the vehicle, parked along the street. At the sight of the soldiers, the two fled on foot with the stolen goods, but one was caught and stopped. Following immediate investigations, the soldiers, after having tracked down the victim, through the localization of an electronic device, still inside one of the stolen suitcases, also managed to track down the second accomplice, in the Laurentina area. Together with their colleagues from the Rome San Sebastiano Station, competent for the territory, they managed to identify the apartment where a 25-year-old Peruvian who had managed to escape was hiding. Following a house search, the soldiers found all the stolen goods stolen shortly before, as well as the electronic device. In the apartment, 2 more suitcases and objects stolen from other thefts were found, on which investigations are underway to trace the owners.

Last evening in via Flaminia, La Storta area, the Carabinieri of the Roma La Storta Station stopped a car carrying 3 South American citizens, who had tried to evade control shortly before. The military identified the occupants, two Chilean citizens aged 40 and 44 and a 35-year-old Cuban, all homeless and with specific criminal records, who following a personal and vehicle search were found to be in possession of a backpack containing 1000 euros, 115 Canadian dollars and personal documents, which had been stolen shortly before from the car of a Canadian tourist, parked in a parking lot in Sutri in the Viterbo area. The tourist was then reached by telephone by the military who returned the backpack with all the stolen goods while the 3 were held in the barracks and the car they were traveling in was seized.

In Via dei Condotti, the Carabinieri arrested two 22-year-old Romanian women, both homeless and with criminal records, caught in collusion with each other, immediately after having deftly stolen the wallet, containing personal documents, credit cards and cash, from the backpack of an American tourist. The stolen goods were then returned to the victim.

In Via del Corso, the Carabinieri of the Roma Vittorio Veneto Station intervened at a commercial establishment where, shortly before, three South American citizens were trying to pay for some items using a credit card that had been stolen shortly before from a foreign tourist. Upon their arrival, the military identified and arrested a 48-year-old Chilean, with a criminal record, and reported two other compatriots aged 27 and 34, both with no criminal record, for the same crime, all seriously suspected of the crime of improper use of a credit card and payment.
