Rome:

It has been 200 days since Russia went to war on Ukraine. Thousands died in this war. The United States and European countries have been providing aid including weapons to Ukraine, which has been affected by the war.

Russia annexed 4 cities of Ukraine, Luhansk, Donetsk, Shaborishahia, Garson, which they captured in the war. This area is 15 percent of the entire Ukraine. The annexation, which has been declared an illegal occupation by international nations, has seen a resurgence of conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

In this case, Pope Francis, the head of the Catholic Church of the Christian religion, has appealed to Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop the cycle of violence.

Pope Francis, addressing a mass of people gathered in St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, Italy, called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop the cycle of violence and death in Ukraine. The risk of nuclear war is absurd. Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has appealed to be open to a serious peace deal.
