A One year after the centenary of the birth of the creator of Montalbano, the ‘Andrea Camilleri Award – New Nartors’ was born, organized by the Andrea Camilleri Fund and managed by his niece Arianna Mortelliti.
Aiming to distinguish different writing styles and inspired by the integration of the great Sicilian history – who preceded his international success as a budding poet, theater director, collaborator of newspapers and magazines, RAI writer and screenwriter – the award is aimed at women authors of short stories, short films, radio dramas, children’s stories and poems and works of concern written in Italy that have not been published before in paper, digital or social media version.
Its difference is that it wants to involve not only young aspiring writers, but also those over sixty (and it could not be otherwise, because it is a tribute to one of the most famous examples of late success in history of books); Each branch is actually divided into two sections: ‘Chiù picca di sixty’ with those who are under sixty, ‘Chiù assà di sixta’ those who will turn sixty on 31/12/2025. All proposals, regardless of the category, must be inspired by the theme ‘Beyond reason’ (with reference to Camilleri’s fantastic trilogy consisting of the novels ‘Maruzza Musumeci’. ‘Il cassante’, ‘Il rattle’ which associate with love and passions related to which go beyond reason, even touch the chords of madness); The winning works will be published in two volumes by the publishing house Gemma Edizioni.

Who?
Granddaughter of Andrea Camilleri, Arianna Mortelliti is a writer of novels for Mondadori and teaches science in high schools. He collaborated with Andrea Camilleri in the last year of his life, supporting him in writing ‘The Self Defense of Cain’, the author’s first posthumously published book.
