This Thursday morning, in the hamlet of Férolles, on the heights of Crécy-la-Chapelle, the wind is still blowing very strongly. During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, a poplar tree, under the effect of storm Ciaran, was cut down. The trunk of this tree, almost five meters high, fell on the roof of the single-storey extension of a house located at the very end of the Rougets path. Luckily, no one in the family living there was injured.

“It was between 2 and 2:30,” says Frédéric, the father of the family. We were awakened by a loud boom that shook the roof and walls of the house. My son opened his window and saw branches and tiles. I opened mine and saw the tree on the roof. » The man, aged 46, was not afraid but said he was “surprised”.

The firefighters intervened. They offered the family rehousing. She declined the offer. “We are a little confused. We didn’t sleep all night,” explains the father.

Luckily, adds Frédéric, the trunk fell “between two trusses”, these triangular structures which support the entire roof. “If he had fallen on one of the two, the entire roof would have fallen. »

A company, called, came this morning to cover the roof “so that it is water-proof. But with winter coming, it won’t be able to stay like this for very long. »

From now on, the family wonders if the insurance will play its role and help them to reimburse the work induced by the disaster on this extension renovated “three years ago” and attached to the house. The owners will also need to identify the owner of the land on which the poplar mowed down by the storm was located. “We asked, no one knows who it is. » In any case, one thing is certain, “we have lived here for eighteen years and no tree has ever fallen. »

This Thursday morning, on the path leading to the damaged house, the Enedis services were active. Electric cables, under the influence of Ciaran, ended up on the ground.
