According to a press release issued by the Chennai Meteorological Center today:
Depression intensifies into the southern Andamans and adjoining south-eastern Bay of Bengal.
It may move in a northwesterly direction and strengthen into a barometric depression. It is expected to intensify into a severe storm on the morning of the 8th (today) and move in a north-westerly direction. It may then move north and northeast toward the central West Bengal coast off the coast of Odisha.
Due to this, strong winds with a speed of 70-80 kmph are expected in the south-eastern part of the Bay of Bengal. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas in the Bay of Bengal.
There is no warning for fishermen in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry.
Occasional showers or thundershowers will occur at times in some parts of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry today.
