Eight departments, in the east of France, were placed this Saturday by Meteo France, on orange alert for thunderstorms. “In Rhône-Alpes this Saturday, after a rather mild first part of the day, the weather conditions will deteriorate. A very active stormy line will sweep through all the departments placed in orange vigilance between the afternoon and the middle of the night from Saturday to Sunday, ”indicates Météo France, in its bulletin.
And to specify: “The storms will be accompanied by very strong rainfall intensities (of the order of 30 to 40 mm/h), significant electrical activity, possibly hail and, to a lesser extent, gusts of wind. »
36 departments on yellow alert
The departments placed in orange vigilance are La Drôme, Ardèche, Loire, Rhône, Ain, Haute-Savoie, Savoie and Isère. In addition, 36 other departments are placed on yellow alert for the same reason.
According to Météo France, this episode is “not exceptional” but “requiring particular vigilance due to a significant risk of violent phenomena”.
