Storms, hail and gusts of wind: 13 departments on orange alert

by time news

It is a stormy episode which is not exceptional for the season, but which can generate strong gusts and hailstorms. Météo France placed 13 departments on orange alert this Sunday morning. These are Gironde, Lot-et-Garonne, Dordogne, Charente, Vienne, Haute-Vienne, Lot, Corrèze, Creuse, Cantal, Puy- de-Dôme, the Haute-Loire and the Loire.

Locally stormy showers approach the Atlantic coasts at the start of the day, but without presenting a violent character, explains the forecaster. But this situation will change. These rains will move east in the morning, and affect a large northern half of the country, without being violent.

It is at the beginning of the afternoon that new storms will form on the reliefs of Auvergne and Forez, and can give strong gusts as well as hail.
Then, at the end of the afternoon, a stormy axis should form over the south of Aquitaine and then rise rapidly towards Périgord, Limousin, Quercy, and the east of Poitou and Charentes, giving strong gusts (up to 100/110 km/h) as well as hail in places.
