Drone video shows rescuers pulling a man out of his car on a flooded street in Florida on Tuesday after Tropical Storm Debbie lashed the southeastern United States with rain.

The footage shows a car driving through the flooded street before stopping.

The rescuers waded into the deep water, reached the car and pulled the man out of the water trap, bTV reported.

Debbie made landfall as a Category 1 hurricane in the Big Bend region of the Gulf Coast on Monday morning.

The storm killed at least five people in the southeastern United States. Torrential rainfall poses risk of “catastrophic” flooding, authorities warn.

“Debbie” continued its northward movement today toward the states of Georgia and South Carolina. Wind speeds reached 75 km/h, according to the US National Hurricane Center.

The governor of Florida warned yesterday that there will continue to be a danger of flooding in various regions of the state in the coming days.

More than 113,000 Florida homes and businesses are without power today, a day after Debbie slammed into the state. Yesterday, the number of households and companies without power was 350,000.
