New York: The scientific world was surprised by the pits found in a straight line at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. Researchers are investigating what these seemingly man-made pits are. The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has prepared an opportunity for the public to comment on this.

NOAA discovered these holes, which appear to have been drilled by someone, during research conducted with the help of a special unmanned exploratory vehicle as part of its study of coral reefs and more. Another peculiarity is that they appear one after the other in a straight line at a depth of about 1.7 miles below sea level. Presence of peat was found around the pits.

NOAA says these potholes have been noticed before. NOAA has shared this information on social media along with pictures of the potholes. Some people suspect that these pits were created in the soil by creatures living at the bottom of the sea.
