Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko announced the expansion of the Digital Economy national program – new federal projects for the implementation of “strategic initiatives” will appear in it. The White House explains this decision by the ability to quickly monitor work in these areas.

For operational control over the implementation of new initiatives for socio-economic development, the government decided to single out a number of them in separate federal projects. According to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, three new FPs will appear in the Digital Economy national program: Digital Services and Services Online (will combine the initiatives Digital Citizen Profile, State Services Online and Electronic Document Management); “Internet access” and “Training of personnel for IT” (will be created on the basis of the initiatives of the same name). “The decision to single out a number of socio-economic initiatives in separate federal projects was made by the government to reflect the expected significant effects from their implementation and effectively monitor their implementation,” a representative of the Deputy Prime Minister told Kommersant.

Currently, the digital economy national program includes seven federal projects: Information Infrastructure, Information Security, Regulatory Regulation of the Digital Environment, Artificial Intelligence, Human Resources for the Digital Economy, Digital Public Administration and “Digital Technologies”. At the same time, the results of new initiatives are partially included in the targets of existing federal projects of the national program.

The authorities expect from the implementation of new federal projects to improve the quality of the provision of public services, provide broadband Internet access throughout Russia and teach programming to 240 thousand high school students.

“There will be no duplication with the results of other federal projects – some results of existing federal projects were transferred to new ones in order to preserve the integrity of the tasks being solved and to increase the effectiveness of the implementation of initiatives,” said Dmitry Chernyshenko’s representative.

Recall that in October this year, the government approved the implementation of “strategic initiatives” – 42 new projects with a total cost of about 4.6 trillion rubles. until 2024. Their main task is to supplement the basic strategy of the White House with new flexible instruments that will make it possible to change the nature of socio-economic development in the selected areas, from social to investment (see Kommersant, October 7).
