Six consecutive first place wins for the first time in 1969

The eight-member K-boy group Stray Kids reached the top spot on the US Billboard main album chart ‘Billboard 200’ for the sixth time. This is a record tied with BTS, the group that led the globalization of K-pop.
In a chart preview article on the 21st (local time), the U.S. Billboard announced that Stray Kids’ new album ‘HOP’ ranked first on the ‘Billboard 200’ with album sales of 187,000 copies. With this, Stray Kids took first place on the Billboard 200 for the sixth time with ‘Hap’, following ‘ODDINARY’ and ‘MAXIDENT’ released in 2022.
According to Billboard, Stray Kids are the first group in the chart’s 69-year history to have six consecutive albums reach number one since first entering the Billboard 200. Stray Kids also became the group with the most number one hits on the Billboard 200 since 2000, tying with BTS, Linkin Park, and the Dave Matthews Band.
Stray Kids said through their agency JYP Entertainment, “We are very grateful and very happy to the fans who made it possible to achieve this historic record. “It’s an honor to receive so much love from fans around the world,” he said.
Stray Kids took first place on the chart with their 2022 mini album ‘Ordinary’. The mini album ‘Maxidant’ in the same year, the 3rd regular album ‘★★★★★ (Five Star)’ and mini album ‘Rockstar’ in 2023, and the fifth mini album ‘ATE’ in 2024. After reaching first place, it topped the chart again this time, reaching the top for the sixth time in two years.
In this new album, Stray Kids presented a format and genre called ‘SKZHOP HIPTAPE’, which is a combination of the group name’s abbreviation ‘SKZ’ and hip-hop. The album contains a total of 12 songs, including the title song ‘Walkin On Water’ and solo songs by eight members.
K-pop singers who have ranked first on the ‘Billboard 200’ so far include BTS and Stray Kids (6 times each), Ateez (2 times), SuperM, Blackpink, Tomorrow by Together (TXT), New Genes, There are only eight teams, including Twice.
