Niklas-Wilson Sommer got into trouble due to a social media post.
After he was seen in a Bayern Munich jersey, he was attacked by unknown individuals.
Nürnberg fans also expressed their displeasure in the stadium with insulting banners.
Niklas-Wilson Sommer is a multi-talent. The 26-year-old plays for the U-23 team of FC Nürnberg, which is currently 13th in the 2. Bundesliga and a traditional club in Germany. However, the footballer is more famous as a streamer, with one million fans following him on Instagram.
To keep his followers entertained, streamers often need to come up with something new. However, Sommer’s last idea backfired badly.
Sommer ambushed
Sommer was seen on social media in a jersey of the German record champions Bayern Munich. This turned out to be a bad idea, as he was attacked. “With the ambush in front of his door in the early evening and the physical attack a few hours later that night, the individuals have crossed all boundaries,” writes 1. FC Nürnberg in a statement.
The act was apparently a reaction to the player showing himself in a Bayern jersey on social networks three days earlier, continued the FCN. “The photo was deleted shortly after it was published, and the player has also publicly apologized.”
The club will never accept that players are physically attacked, it states. Sommer himself showed in Instagram stories the bruises he sustained on his head from the attack.
Nürnberg fans expressed their frustration over the unfortunate jersey choice at the first team’s home game against Magdeburg (0:4). A banner read “Club pride instead of hipster posing. Niklas Wilson, you are sh***** like the FCB.”
Another banner said, “Wilson, f*** off, you Bayern w****.” This was not the first time Sommer had shown himself in jerseys of other clubs on social media. The rivalry between Nürnberg and Munich, within the state of Bavaria – that is simply not acceptable to the fans.
