“It stirs up a lot of feelings and memories! Putting down the headlamp that he used to visit “the street-art clinic”, a temporary exhibition in the former Saint-Gatien clinic, near the cathedral of Tours (Indre-et-Loire), Bernard comes to his senses. . Of a “curious” nature, this sixty-year-old, who grew up in a neighboring district, let himself be carried away by his children. “I would never have thought of returning to this familiar place in Tourangeaux to see ephemeral works from an artistic field of which I know almost nothing. »

The curatorship of the exhibition has been entrusted to Bob Jeudy. Considered as “the pope of street-art”, it brought together 31 artists, of all ages, from Zloty, the precursor of street-art in France. Lit by their simple headlamp and guided by simple phosphorescent markings on the ground, visitors rush, in groups of 80 maximum, into this vast space of 1,500m2, bare and without electricity. “It’s a truly singular experience, a little disturbing, that I’m not about to forget,” adds Bernard. Since its opening to the public on June 29, the Street-art clinic has exceeded 7,000 visits.

An ambitious rehabilitation project, led by the Touraine Equipment Company (SET), integrating housing, shops and restaurants, an engineering school and a “house of hospitality”, will begin in September 2024. Time for the City to find a new theatre, ephemeral or not, dedicated to the expression of urban arts.

Opening hours until October 29: from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day, closed on Monday and Tuesday. Admission: 5 euros, free for children under twelve and job seekers. www.laclinique.art
