The new Mayor of Athens, Haris Doukas, has put an end to the “redevelopment” of Strefi Hill, which had been started by the former mayor Kostas Bakoyannis and had provoked strong reactions from the residents.
The project started, through the “Adopt your city” program and with a donation of 1,150,000.00 euros from the real estate company PRODEA Investments. During the work, the police were constantly present, and tensions were frequent.

The new mayor of Athens proceeded to cancel the “redevelopment”, which was denounced by the “Athens High” faction of Mr. Bakoyannis.
What does Bakoyannis support?
“Without any justification, Mr. Doukas decided to throw in the wastebasket the sponsorship, in the amount of more than 1 million euros, which had been secured by the previous municipal authority, for the formation of the emblematic hill of Strefis in a modern and safe green space » says the announcement of the municipal faction.
In fact, circles of Mr. Bakoyannis’ faction accuse Haris Doukas of trying to build a good relationship with SYRIZA and ANTARSYA in order not to question his future moves and policies on other, also important issues concerning the municipality of Athens.
It is recalled that in December the Council of State partially accepted the suspension request of residents against the municipality, putting a brake on the installation of metal structures on the ridge of the hill.
