The National Oil Corporation and the Algerian company Sonatrach signed a comprehensive memorandum of understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the field of oil and gas.

According to Algerian media, “the memorandum stipulates the provision of drilling and well intervention equipment, in addition to maintenance and training services.”

The memorandum also includes drilling and maintenance services, as the two companies will work to exchange expertise and technology in the field of drilling and maintaining wells, in addition to providing the necessary equipment and devices, and working to organize joint training programs to develop the cadres working in the oil and gas sector in both countries. The two companies will also study the possibility of cooperation in the field of exploration and development of new oil and gas fields, and cooperation in the field of renewable energy, with the aim of diversifying energy sources and enhancing sustainability.

The signing of the memorandum came during an official visit by officials from the Libyan National Oil Corporation to Algeria, where a series of meetings were held with their counterparts in Sonatrach to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in various fields related to the oil and gas sector.

It is noteworthy that the Director General of Sonatrach, Rachid Hachichi, and the Chairman of the Libyan Oil Corporation, Farhat Ben Gueddara, signed last January 2024, an addendum to the charter of the agreement signed between the two parties on February 10, 2022.
