Al-Hashishi confirmed, “Sonatrach’s determination to resume its activity in Libya, complete its contractual obligations, and begin developing the discovered fields.”

The Minister-designate presented “a general overview of the development projects in the oil sector plan to increase oil and gas production rates, related infrastructure projects, and refinery development projects.”

In response to investors’ questions about the current business environment in Libya, he explained that “Libya is seriously working to create the ideal conditions for investment, as it enjoys huge reserves of oil and gas ready for development, and promising areas for exploration.”

He added: “In the near future, the National Oil Corporation will announce a new exploration licensing round, aiming to boost the economy and support stability in the State of Libya.”

The investors expressed their “gratitude for the explanations and the minister’s responses to their questions about the available investment opportunities, and about the transparency and valuable information that encourages investment in the State of Libya.”

A consultative meeting was held between Khalifa Rajab Abdul Sadiq, Ekperkipe Ekpo, Minister of State for Gas Affairs of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, attended by the CEO of Green Flow Gas Pipeline Company/National Oil Corporation, the Director General of Planning at the Ministry, and Olalekan Ogunleye, Executive Vice President for Gas and Power at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, regarding the Republic of Nigeria’s intention to implement a pipeline project to transport gas produced from its fields to export gas to Europe via Libya.

It was agreed to “prepare a memorandum of understanding to conduct technical and economic feasibility studies in this regard, and it is expected that this project will have a huge economic return on the Libyan state.”
