Strengthening cooperation with Germany in the fields of “renewable energy and sustainable development”

Within the framework of implementing the memorandum of understanding signed in 2022 between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of National Unity and the German Foundation for International Cooperation (GIZ(of the German Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development)BMZThe International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hosted the first meeting of the Libyan-German consultations at the Ministry’s headquarters.

This meeting comes “within the framework of ongoing discussion and consultation between the Government of National Unity and Libya’s development partners on strengthening cooperation frameworks and following up and evaluating joint projects implemented in the areas of decentralization, renewable energy, women and youth participation, and improving health services, in a way that contributes to achieving the goals of sustainable development and creating a transformation.” “Quality in increasing the ability of beneficiary ministries to achieve comprehensive and balanced development.”

During the meeting, the two sides stressed “the importance of continuing effective dialogue to ensure the implementation of projects in line with national priorities.”

The meeting was held by Mr. Ashraf Al-Tayeb, Director of the International Cooperation Department, with the participation of Jamal Al-Barq, the Libyan Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany, and Al-Taher Hussein, Director of the Public Protocol Department at the Ministry, accompanied by the person in charge of the German file, Muhammad Suwaid, along with a number of specialists and officials of the international cooperation offices in the Libyan ministries. From the German side, Ralph Tarraf, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Christopher Rau, Director of Africa at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and a number of representatives of the German Embassy attended.
