jpnn.comJAKARTA – Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) emphasized the importance of close relations between academics and politicians to formulate rational and data-based public policies.

AHY said this after completing his closed doctoral exam at the Postgraduate School of Airlangga University, Surabaya, East Java, Thursday (12/9).

“The world of politics and academia must go hand in hand. If politicians are far from academics, the resulting policies tend to be less rational and not based on data,” said AHY as quoted by JPNN.com, Saturday (14/9).

AHY is also committed to continuing to maintain closeness to the academic world.

According to him, politicians need to be actively involved in the academic world so that policies made are based on data and science. So that the policies taken are not only based on political assumptions, but also supported by valid data and scientific studies.

He explained that synergy between academics and politicians is very necessary to realize policies that are effective and have a real impact.

The Ministry of ATR/BPN which AHY currently leads also collaborates with academics, well-known campuses, in various programs, including in implementing the acceleration of Agrarian Reform.

AHY further explained that academics also play an important role in helping to formulate policies.
