Governor Arif Mohammad Ghan has demanded that government employees abide by the High Court order not to participate in the strike. The government has no choice but to obey the order. The governor said in Thiruvananthapuram that the government should understand the plight of the people.

Meanwhile, the high court ruled that the strike by government employees was illegal. The court directed that an order be issued today stating that action would be taken against the strikers. The High Court order was issued on a petition questioning the government’s failure to declare Diocesan. According to the Kerala Service Act, employees have no right to strike or strike against government policies. A bench headed by the Chief Justice today directed that action be taken against the strikers under Rule Eighty-six. The court was dissatisfied with Dyson’s non-announcement. The Chief Justice questioned whether it made sense to say that action would be taken after the strike. Counsel for the petitioner pointed out that there was a move to grant leave and pay to the strikers. He also pointed out that the High Court had canceled the payment of such salaries during the 2019 strike. But the government sought the Advocate General’s legal advice on whether the court order should be enforced. The understanding is that after receiving the advice of the AG, adequate follow-up is required. The organizations are of the view that the strike will continue in spite of the order
