The officials and employees of the outsourcing of the Idea-2 project of the Election Commission (EC) are observing a strike and sit-in program on two-point demand.
The sit-in and strike program is being held in front of the election building in Agargaon from 8:30 am on Wednesday (August 21).
They are carrying out this program to demand that the NID be placed in the EC instead of the Ministry of Home Affairs and that the jobs of the officers and employees at all levels of outsourcing from grade 9 to grade 20 of the IDEA-2 project be made permanent.
The participants in the location program said that this program will continue until the demands are met. Earlier, in a meeting on Tuesday (August 20) night, all the officials and employees working in the IDEA-2 project under the Election Commission (EC) Secretariat announced to stop the National Identity Card (NID) service across the country in order to fulfill two demands.
Until the demands are met, the employees of every district, upazila and regional election office of the country have been called to come to Dhaka and join the program.
It is known that 2 thousand 260 officers and employees are currently working in IDEA-2 project. They work for NID at the field level.
