Lhe Minister Delegate for Transport, Clément Beaune, called on Saturday, December 3 for “collective responsibility” to avoid end-of-year strikes at the SNCF, in the middle of the weekend of mobilization of the controllers of the railway company. “I can’t bring myself to have things written down”, despite the filing of new strike notices for the holiday period, said the minister, on the sidelines of the inauguration of a building at Roissy airport -Charles-de-Gaulle.

“Let’s work in the next few days to avoid this […], I will do everything at my level,” he added. “Right now, there is an SNCF strike hitting our country on the TGV lines for three days. […] I know that adds difficulties or that it creates problems for many French people, I think of those first, ”said Clément Beaune in front of journalists.

Upcoming discussions on purchasing power

Another strike is scheduled for next Wednesday, while notices have been given for the Christmas and New Year’s weekends. “There must be a discussion, a social dialogue, there will be discussions on the question of purchasing power, in particular, again in the coming days”, remarked Clément Beaune.

“Our country is going through a period that is not easy, with the question of energy, purchasing power, everyone feels it. This is true for employees, including at the SNCF of course, ”he conceded. “Of course I hope that [ces grèves, NDLR] will be avoided, I believe that the French do not need us to add a difficult moment to a complicated period, ”pleaded the minister.
