Strong 6.1 earthquake shook part of the national territory

At midnight last Friday, a strong earthquake was reported that shook several parts of the national territory. According to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARN), the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.1.

“REVISED DATA: Revised Mag. Earthquake: 6.1, in Guatemalan territory. 77.0 km south of Guatemala City. Depth 66 km. There is no tsunami threat for El Salvador,” MARN said on social networks.

In addition, one hour after the first earthquake, another earthquake was also reported, with a magnitude of 3.4, located on the coast of Guatemala, 94 km west of Barra de Santiago.
