The Meteorological Agency’s Earthquake and Tsunami Center said the earthquake did not pose a tsunami threat.
He added that residents in the surrounding areas felt the force of the earthquake, and there were no immediate reports of casualties.
The agency said it had not detected any flashpoints, but advised residents to stay away from damaged or cracked buildings, and to inspect homes before re-entering to ensure the safety of the buildings.
Indonesia is exposed to frequent earthquakes due to its location on the “Ring of Fire” in the Pacific Ocean, where earthquakes and active volcanoes are active.
