Strong heat wave in the Curitiba region triggers orange alert

One strong heat wave arrives at Curitiba region this Monday (11) and temperatures rise significantly throughout the week. The heat in the final stretch of summer affects a large part of the southern region of Brazil and also the interior of São Paulo, with temperatures above 30°C and predominantly dry weather until Friday (15).

The dry climate and the increase in temperatures, which are up to 5°C above average in almost all of Paraná, led the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) to issue a orange alert for part of Curitiba Metropolitan Region (affecting the cities of Campo Largo and Lapa) and the North, Central-South and West regions of the state. And even in the easternmost region, which is not under alert, the strong heat will be present throughout the week.

The Inmet statement indicates danger and is valid until 6 pm on Friday (15).

In Curitiba, according to Simepar forecasts, the temperature will rise in the coming days, reaching 30°C on Thursday (14) and a maximum of 31°C on Friday (15). And the weather will also remain muggy over the weekend, despite the occurrence of rain showers, especially in the Capital and on the Coast.
