Minutes of fear paralyzed many of the passengers traveling in the past few days on a disturbed flight that left Cologne and landed in Rome. Strong and very long turbulence, lasting 25 minutes, put the passengers and crew to the test. The massive turbulence on board was apparently caused by a storm that hit the plane near Rome.
The press release from Aeroporti di Roma
Aeroporti di Roma then clarified what happened in a statement:
In the early evening of Tuesday 8/10, Eurowings aircraft EW886 coming from Cologne declared a medical emergency after landing at Fiumicino airport, as it was about to reach the apron.
During the turbulence on approach to the airport, a passenger felt ill (which turned out to be a drop in blood pressure and not a heart attack as reported on some websites) and, after proper checks at a room Fiumicino airport emergency, later released the same day. No other cases requiring medical attention on board were reported.
